JO: Pink - positive.
CYNTHIA: (swaying unsteadily, the container drops from her
hand, spilling it's contents on the floor) Oh my God.
JO: (taking her by the shoulders) Cynthia, are you
okay?
(CYNTHIA collapses into her arms.
Blackout.)
SCENE 8:
The grassy hill. The BOY is sitting against the tree with his
knees pulled up to his chest and his arms around them.
He sees CYNTHIA and stands as she wordlessly runs up to him
and throws her arms around him. He reciprocates.)
BOY: My poor, sweet, innoce-
CYNTHIA: (sobbing) Don't say anything, just hold me. Don't
let me go.
(The BOY holds her tightly, silently, as the
lights fade to blackout.)
SCENE 9:
Back in the toilet black. CYNTHIA is lying in the coma
position, JO is sitting by her holding her hand and patting it.
JO: Cynthia, wake up. Come on, please, you're scaring
me. (pause) Oh, shit.
(JO stands, wringing her hands, unsure of what to
do. She dashes offstage and reappears with cupped
hands full of water and splashes it on CYNTHIA's
face.)
JO: Come back, Cynthia, I don't know what to do.
(After a little while CYNTHIA's eyes open and she
sits up. JO lets out a huge sigh of relief.)
JO: Holy shit! How worried was I? You've been out
for fifteen minutes. I almost called an
ambulance.
CYNTHIA: I'm sorry.
JO: Are you okay?
CYNTHIA: (somewhat distantly) No. I'm pregnant.
