SCENE 3:
In the Sickbay, CYNTHIA is lying on the bed again.
The COUNSELLOR is sitting next to her, chewing his nails.
The WOMAN enters with a pile of papers and sees CYNTHIA on
the bed.
WOMAN: Did she faint again? She wants to start eating a
proper diet, she does, before she does some
real damage.
COUNSELLOR: Shhh, she's coming round.
(The WOMAN puts the papers down and exits.
CYNTHIA sits up.)
CYNTHIA: I fainted again.
COUNSELLOR: (nods) Mm-hmm. Your mum's on her
way up to take you home if you want to go. Listen
Cynthia, I'm not sure what's going on, you don't seem to
want to talk to me about it. However, I think there's
something that you need to talk to someone about
and if so, then it's important that you're able
to do that. Would you rather talk to another
woman?
CYNTHIA: Maybe.
COUNSELLOR: (taking pen and paper from a desk and
writing) I know a woman, her name's Janine Balfour, she's a
psychologist -
CYNTHIA: I'm not crazy or anything.
COUNSELLOR: No, no, she does counselling, just like
myself except not for a school, she's had a lot of
experience with young people, especially victims
of abuse. Why don't you give her a call? Tell
her I gave you her name and it won't cost you
anything.
(He hands her the paper. She takes it.)
CYNTHIA: Thanks, I might.
(Cynthia's MOTHER enters in a fluster and rushes
over to her.)
MOTHER: Honey, are you okay? What happened?
CYNTHIA: I'm alright now. I just fainted again.
