SCENE 4:

The School sickbay. CYNTHIA is lying on a bed on her side
with her legs elevated. A WOMAN is standing by but her
attention is on some paperwork. MR BENSON is also present and
is standing by the bed looking worried.

CYNTHIA comes to and rises to a sitting position. The WOMAN
turns around and crosses over to her as MR BENSON smiles
with relief.

MR BENSON: I was starting to worry about you.

CYNTHIA: I'm okay now.

WOMAN: How do you feel? Do you feel dizzy or anything?

CYNTHIA: (standing) No, I'm okay, really. I guess I just
fainted.

MR BENSON: Dead away.

WOMAN: Sit down and take it easy. I've phoned your mum
and she told me you weren't feeling that well this
morning. She's on her way here to take you home.

(CYNTHIA nods and MR BENSON looks at his watch)

MR BENSON: Well, now the drama's over I'd better move along.
I've got a class in five minutes. I hope you feel
better soon, Cynthia. (to the woman as he exits)
Thanks.

WOMAN: She'll be okay. She's probably just not eating
properly.

(CYNTHIA gives the WOMAN a filthy look as she goes
back to her paperwork. Unsure footsteps sound
offstage and there is a knock. The WOMAN looks up
from her papers as CYNTHIA's MOTHER sticks her
head in.)

MOTHER: Hello. Is this- (she sees CYNTHIA and rushes
over to her) Are you okay, darling, how are you
feeling?

WOMAN: She's fine now. She just fainted.

MOTHER: (taking CYNTHIA's hand) Let's get you home then.
(to the WOMAN) Thanks for your help.

WOMAN: (as she exits with her paper work) Uh-huh.

(CYNTHIA and her MOTHER cross the stage away from
the sickbay bed.)

MOTHER: You didn't tell her about yesterday did you?
